The Dream It Do It “What’s so Cool About Manufacturing” Video Contest is a program designed by trade organizations, employers and educators dream-itto help improve the image of manufacturing as a career choice and to recruit more young people to vocational and technical schools that feed talent to the manufacturing industry. Through a grant, this video contest is coming to the Delaware Valley Region and we are looking for several businesses to participate.

Dream It Do It Video Contest

What it is – A team of eighth graders, led by a teacher coach are partnered with a manufacturing business. The student video team visits the manufacturing facility, and video tapes the facility, interviews with employees, products, etc. From this footage they produce a 2 ½ minute video. These videos are put on the Dream It Do It website for anyone to view and for three days’ people are allowed to vote for their favorite video. This is promoted throughout the region by PBS, and bill boards. The project culminates with an award show with students, family members, teachers, and manufacturers in attendance.
What do I need to do – Companies who sign up for this project will need to host a school team (about 7 students and the teacher coach) for half of a day. The company will be able to approve the video prior to it being finalized.
Fast facts – The Lehigh Valley has been involved with this project for 5 years, last year they had almost 400,000 page views on the video website, and over 700 parents, teachers, students and manufacturers attending the awards show in 2016

How do I sign up – please contact Mark Solis at msolis@bucksworks.org or call 215-874-2800 ext.107.
