PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Process Engineer is responsible for assisting the Production group with work flow and process improvements of the PCBA area. Experience in a Printed Circuit Board Assembly facility is a must, preferably with a low volume high mix background. The candidate will be working in all aspects of the process and should have a strong knowledge of quoting, SMT, Solder Screen Printing, Pick and Place, Reflow, Through Hole, Wave Solder, Selective Solder, and Circuit Board Testing. IPC-610 Class 3 experience is a plus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and Troubleshoot PCB Gerber files for production.
Program/Troubleshoot SMT Screen Printing and Pick and Place Equipment.
PCBA thermal profiling (SMT reflow oven, wave solder or selective solder).
Oversee processes in the area for quality and adherence to IPC and other specific standards.
Knowledge of Electrical Schematic interpretation and component classification types.
Develop Shop Travelers for all work performed in the shop.
Develop proper work techniques and Instructions for the area.
Optimize throughput and organization of work area using Lean techniques.
Assist the Sales staff with quoting as required.
Troubleshoot failures and quality issues quickly to maintain on-time delivery.
Assist assembly team members as necessary with production as time allows.
Safely operate all on-site equipment as necessary.
Continuously work to develop and improve the key processes in the area.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering
5 Yrs. experience in PCBA manufacturing facility
1-3 Yrs. experience with SMT Pick and Place operation and programming
Experience with ASM pick and place machines, ASM programming software, and ASM machine programming is desirable
The job may require extended periods of standing on a concrete floor.
The job may require lifting up to 50lbs.
The job requires knowledge of computers with Windows based software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
The job requires good communication skills with both internal and external personnel.
The job requires you to spend most of the day in a PCBA manufacturing facility. There will be contact with components and chemicals used in the assembly of printed circuit boards.
